These little rodents can't be trusted! They are getting ready for
a squirrel revolution. Remember, you heard it here first!!
Violent squirrels are out there planning their next attack.
....and you might be their next victim!!!!!

You'll be a believer after you read what I found:

Top 10 Squirrel Attacks
SOURCE: Mirror News-UK

1. In June 2005, a woman was attacked in her own living room by a crazed squirrel in Passau, Germany. The rodent jumped in through the window and sunk its teeth into the woman. Whilst fleeing the scene the squirrel bit a builder and a 72-year-old man, before the pensioner managed to kill it with his crutch.

2. A pine cone shortage in the Russian town of Lazo resulted in hungry squirrels biting a stray dog to death in November 2005. The unfortunate dog was barking at the squirrels when a swarm of them suddenly surrounded him and attacked.

3. A four-year-old child eating a muffin was repeatedly bitten in a California park by a peckish squirrel in September 2006. The toddler was rushed to hospital for tetanus shots after fears were raised that the loony squirrel had rabies.

4. In November a caring animal lover was assaulted by an injured squirrel he had rescued just days before in a local park. Nicknamed Elvis, the squirrel viciously bit both hands of nature writer Ernie Gordon. After a round of tetanus shots and antibiotics Mr Gordon parted ways with Elvis the squirrel.

5. In September 2005 a Salisbury teenager was pounced upon by a demented squirrel as she bent over to pick up a bag she dropped. The animal bit her left forefinger and refused to let go despite frantic efforts by the teenager. Her mother Alanna Cooper said, "Lorna swung the squirrel around to try and get it off but it had a firm lock on her finger and just wouldn’t let go.” It took four other girls and a woman to wrestle the squirrel off the girl before it gave in and made good its escape up a nearby tree.

6. Two parents and an 11-year-old student were attacked in a San Francisco school as they were about to embark on a class field trip in May 2007. The animal managed to climb up one of the parents' trouser legs. The other parent was bitten in the process when he tried to get the rodent off. Before fleeing the scene the squirrel attacked a passing student in the corridor.

7. In July 2006 a mother in Swindon was attacked by a grey squirrel when she stopped to show it to her children. The squirrel leapt onto the head of her three-year-old son and when she tried to scare it off it pounced on her. The shocked parent said, “I’m still in shock. I cannot believe a squirrel would do that.”

8. The world premiere of a Finnish opera was thrown into disarray by a suicidal squirrel in August, 2006. Finnish opera singer Esa Ruuttunen was on his way to rehearsals for the show when the kamikaze squirrel lunged straight into the spokes of his bicycle causing him to fall of his bike and break his nose. The concussed tenor was rushed to hospital though managed to recover in time for the premiere. The squirrel was killed instantly.

9. A squirrel terrorized the town of Winter Park, Florida with a string of unprovoked attacks in August 2006. The squirrel, nicknamed Bruce because of his Die Hard antics, attacked two unsuspecting women in a local park. Bruce then attacked two police officers who had come to the aid of the women. After being pepper-sprayed Bruce retreated into his tree. Moments later Bruce reappeared attacking an unsuspecting victim from the rear before again being scared away by police. The final straw for authorities came when the squirrel attacked a father and his young son. The squirrel-hunt was eventually stepped up and Bruce was finally captured. He later died in the custody of animal welfare authorities of unknown causes.

10. The people of Knutsford, Cheshire, had a vengeful grandfather to thank for the death of a serial attacking squirrel in November 2002. The town was consumed by fear after a spate of assaults involving the squirrel. The final straw came when the squirrel attacked a two-year-old girl by sinking its teeth into the girl’s forehead, leaving a deep gash. On hearing of the incident the girl’s grandfather hunted down the animal and shot it dead with an air rifle.

My new cell phone...

I could say that the above photo has similar service as my new cell phone...but that would be a stretch. Phones have come a loooong way. The way we communicate these days just blows my mind.

I grew up in the age of dials, then push buttons. The phone would be connected to the wall on a very short "leash." Then they came out with the long stretchy cord that would connect the handset to the base. It brings back memories of jump rope LOL. I remember my brother and sisters being engaged in long conversations on the phone taking place in a closet within distance of the long phone cord, around the corner of the room where the phone was attached to the wall. The temptation of pushing down the disconnect button and running for my life always popped up in my head. Sometimes I'd act on that temptation... push the button down, hear the anger of being disconnected coming from the closet, hear the closet door burst open and see the long stretched out cord become limp....RUN, run for my life!!!

Now the phones are cordless. The excitment of being chased for my life is gone. These days, the excitement is in finding the phone that was taken off it's base charger and left somewhere in the house....
the sound of the electronic beeps and tones muffled off in the distance....
now I run, run for the phone....
to read the caller ID before the answering machine picks it up.

I recently purchased a new cell phone. Now that's another leap in technology I love!
It has a camera, video camera, recorder, omg...I feel like it does everything!!
It's awesome. The excitement this phone brings is...dropping it!!
It falls in slow-motion...is there time to fumble and catch it....NO...it bounces...and tumbles to a resting spot on the pavement.
Heart races...does it work? YES!!!
Next time I may not be so lucky.

Have a great week all and thanks for landing on the Island.
