take a trip to the Badlands in South Dakota!!

A few summers ago we took a week off to explore South Dakota.
The Badlands was one of my favorite photo "op" places...

I'm all about texture...
and the Badlands is just flippin' covered with it!!

Are you feeling a little parched???

Skin feeling a little dry and flaky just looking at these?
I"m sure you're gettin' really thirsty, now. LOL

At the end of our quick tour of the Badlands... we were extremely
thirsty and we wished there was a restaurant near by!!

I wish they had a Red Eye in the Badlands...
this would've been nice!! LMAO
(a hint to Kevin the Red Eye brewmeister)

And a warm Chocolate Calzone would've been heaven too!
Thanks for taking the tour today....have a great weekend all!!

I really am thirsty, Jack! What you got that's nice n cold in frosty glass? Thanks for the pictures; awesome, as usual!
TGIF! Waylaid Wanderlust
FINALLY!!!
Do you kow how long I've been waiting for that calzone shot????
The badlands are great for photography, but a definite sedative for DRIVING.... ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.......
I always hate driving through there, now if it were my destination it would probably be a much different story!
Hello Waylaid! That drink is a glass of beer called "Bloom." ...thanks for taking the tour, love. TGIF!!
Sorry Shakes, I must have forgotten that I told you about the Chocolate Calzone!! Sorry to keep you in suspense. Next time you visit Wausau... you have to try one! I guarantee, you won't be disappointed!! *licks lips*
Badlands a sedative?...well those curvy roads can keep you on your toes!! Crank up the air, tunes and sing your way through!! LMAO
Chocolate Calzone?
I am sooooooooooooo there!
*licks lips*
Jack, I was reading Wausau's free newspaper (City Pages) last night and thought about you. The Red Eye had a new ad in the paper, informing that their new outdoor seating area is open and ready for business. I thought the outdoor seating would be another love of yours, considering you being a pirate and all!
Sir Jack ~ Great Blog!! The Badlands is one of my favorite places!! The changing colors of the rocks as the sun moves ~ wow!!
I traveled through there in October and ended up in a snowsquall. That was really strange!!
Did you travel anywhere else in SD besides the Badlands...Wounded Knee, Crazy Horse Monument?
chocolate calzone? now there's something different. Sorry, I guess I live a sheltered life ~ lol ~ I've never heard of a chocolate calzone. is it just filled with chocolate and sprinkled with confectioner's sugar?
That Bandlands are fab. I agree with Shakes analysis though. Definately sedative but a notch above its brother to the North...
Thanks so much for sharing the photos.
"Definately sedative but a notch above its brother to the North..."
LMAO Rachel! Sooo true... ;)
Hi Cranky & Chrisine!
I love the Badlands too. Next time I will stay longer into the evening... get the best shadows & light!!
We went to many places in SD... another favorite was Custer State Park...where you can see Sylvan Lake, wildlife, and many beautiful rock formations!
A chocolate calzone is a baked calzone dough sprinkled with powdered sugar and filled with hot melted chocolate!!! First and only time I've ever had one was at the Red Eye, and it was a treat!!
Thanks for taking the tour, loves!!
Hi Judge & Shakes...how did you get in there without me seeing you!!
You're right about traveling in SD...some areas are very flat and boring. I like the SD speed limit, I think most of the time we were going around 80-90 LOL. Never been to ND...but I have a nephew in Fargo who needs a visit one of these days!!
Great now I need to go and get a drink LOL
Those pics are cool, and so interesting. I have never been there, and I will put the badlands on my list of things to do for sure!
Glad I finally was able to get in here and see what you had posted LOL...stupid computers!
Custer State Park is neat. I was charged by a buffalo there ~ fortunately there was fence between us!! lol
Thanks for posting this blog, it brought back great memories for me.
and the chocolate calzone sounds good ~ I'll have to see if I have them in my area.
Hi Blazn & christine! Hope you are both having a great weekend!!
What will be on the next Island tour??? Hmmm. We'll see.
